Keeping the Weight Off Through Smart Eating: Looking at Super Foods

One of the biggest struggles an American will go through in their life is keeping the weight off and dodging life changing illnesses like obesity and diabetes.  It is a simple product of the times we live in, and the incredible wealth of food we can chose from.  However, many people find that strict dieting and exercise is either impossible or not convenient in a busy and stressful life.  Rather, the only option is being able to get in healthy behaviors when at all possible.

One way to help keep the weight off is by looking at different super foods for weight loss.  These are foods that either help reduce our desire for food, are filling while being low calorie, or foods that help our bodies either burn off fat or reduce the creation of future fat cells.  Lets take a quick look at some these.

1.  A helpful beverage:  Green tea.

Research has shown that green teas infused with extra green tea extract aid the body in reducing the formation of new fat cells.  What this means, is that for those who drank green tea daily, there was a noticeable weight loss, despite eating the same number of calories.

 

2.  A liquid meal:  Soups

Soups are excellent super foods for weight loss and an excellent way to feel full and happy while consuming a minimum amount of calories.  In addition, they are an excellent way to get any number of helpful vitamins and minerals, especially when made from tasty vegetables.  The best soups are those you make yourself, as they normally have significantly less sodium in them.  If you’ve never made a soup before, then don’t fret!  Soups are surprisingly easy to make, save you a ton of money, and are a hit with guests and family alike.

 

3.  The old and boring standby, Salads

There is a trope in American living, where the family sits down to a succulent and tasty meal except for the person dieting, who is given a wilting and sad looking salad.  For most people, this is how salads appear, as meals that only become tasty once a load of cheese, crotons, and dressings have been applied.  This perception is particularly sad, and only helped by the abundance of iceberg lettuce, which has very little taste or nutrients.  If you want a true tasty low fat salad, then go for the Asian greens include kale as well as spinach.  Add to this shredded beats, a nice vinegar dressing and other root vegetables, and you have a complex and tasty alternative to a fattier meal.

Putting it all together

Trying to diet can seem impossible.  Dieting is measured over the course of months, and it can be way to easy to lose sight of a goal especially when looking at a scale every day.  The best thing you can do for yourself is to give yourself a break and not be hard on yourself.  Think outside of the box when it comes to weight loss and eating, and see if you can make normally boring things tasty.  Finding super foods for weight loss doesn’t have to be a chore.  You don’t always need tasty fat, only ingenuity.  Good luck!
